The competition is heating up on "Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro."

After the latest double elimination narrowed the field to six contestants, the race to earn a coveted professional spot on "Dancing with the Stars" season 35 is entering its final stretch.

Here's everything to know about the competition so far, including who's been eliminated, who's still in the running and what happens next.

What is 'Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro'?

The ABC competition series, which premiered July 13, follows 12 aspiring ballroom dancers competing for the chance to join the professional cast of "Dancing with the Stars" season 35.

Hosted by Robert Irwin, the series takes place in Australia, where the contestants live and train together while taking on weekly dance challenges designed to test the skills needed to become a "DWTS" pro.

Along with permanent judges Shirley Ballas and Mark Ballas, a rotating lineup of guest judges mentors the contestants before helping decide who stays and who goes.

"The show did a really great job of setting up challenges for these dancers," Mark Ballas told ABC Audio ahead of the inaugural season premiere. "Whether it's choreographing, group work, chemistry, teaching challenges, these are the things that you face as a pro on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"

Who has been eliminated?

Episode 4, which aired Aug. 3, marked the competition's first double elimination after the previous week's surprise non-elimination.

Guest judge Jenna Johnson challenged the remaining dancers to perform routines that showcased one of ballroom's most important elements -- chemistry.

Contestants paired up to create performances that told a believable story and convinced the judges of their connection.

At the end of the night, Tristen Sanders and Stephani Sosa were eliminated, leaving six dancers still in the competition.

The contestants eliminated so far are:

Contestants remaining in the competition include Allen Genkin, Selena Hamilton, Erik Linder, Nina Mayster, AJ Pritchard and Adele Zaikman.

What's next?

The competition continues Monday, Aug. 10, when "Dancing with the Stars" champion Daniella Karagach joins the show as a guest judge.

The remaining dancers will be challenged to create their own signature "wow" moments by incorporating one of Karagach's signature moves into their routines, before another contestant is eliminated.

"Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with new episodes streaming the following day on Hulu.
