When David Letterman took the stage at Ed Sullivan Theater for the last time Wednesday evening, celebrities took to social media to express their grief, gratitude and memories.
Many former guests took the opportunity to reminisce about their own memories on the “Late Show.”

"Awww Dave I'm gonna miss you! Where am i gonna go on T.V. When I wanna say the F word?" Madonna wrote.
"Me and Elaine from the "Seinfeld" show about to bust onto the Last Letterman. We felt so honored...." Jerry Seinfeld wrote.
Competing TV hosts even tweeted suggestions that viewers watch Letterman's final show.
