Hours after hosting Billboard Awards, Kelly Clarkson has surgery to remove appendix

WATCH: Kelly Clarkson undergoes emergency surgery

The show DID go on. Despite suffering from appendicitis and then having surgery hours later to fix the situation, Kelly Clarkson was able to host and perform at the Billboard Awards on Wednesday night.

The singer took to social media Thursday to reveal she had surgery early that morning -- and how much agony she was in during the show.

"Not gonna lie.... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain," she admitted. "BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix #TheShowMustGoOn."

And in classic Clarkson fashion, she followed that reveal with tweets thanking those involved in the show! What a boss.

"Thank u so much 2 everyone that worked w/me @ the @BBMAs last night! A wonderful & talented group of people! My glam squad @gloglomakeup @RobertRamosProd @cdicelove13 & @weisseubanks my videographer/photographer, assistant @lifeofT & my hubby/manager @BBlackstock & the BBMA crew!" she added.

Clarkson may have been in immense pain, but she sure wasn't showing it. She hosted the BBMAs for the second year in row and attempted to prove who she was by tearing into a medley of songs by Maroon 5, Cardi B, and Panic! At the Disco, among others.

She later performed new song, “Broken & Beautiful."

Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock, whom she thanked in one of her tweets, raise four children together.

Clarkson said last month that while she may be running around the country, hosting, singing and more, her kids are "not impressed." In fact, River Rose, 4, even said, "I was really bored," after watching mommy perform.

"I was like, 'Oh. Damn... Well, that was sweet, honey. Maybe don't tell people that when they get off stage,'" she joked to Entertainment Tonight. "But they don't care, they're over it. They see it all the time."
