Mandy Moore hasn't had the holiday she'd been expecting.

The "This Is Us" star shared on Instagram Friday that she and her husband, Dawes lead singer Taylor Goldsmith, were forced to cut short their "extraordinary" trip to Ecuador following a "major bout of food poisoning."

Although they'd planned to hike Cotopaxi, a stratovolcano in the Andes Mountains, alongside their friend, mountaineer Melissa Arnot, Moore wrote that they made the difficult decision to cancel their plans when they realized they "wouldn’t be able to catch up on hydration, nutrition and rest to complete any more acclimatization hikes before our summit push."

"In any case... we made the tough call to travel home (wow- that wasn’t fun lol) and got back yesterday. We showered and crawled into bed-shells of ourselves- but quickly had the kitties/ dogs by our side and our own Mountain View out the window to enjoy," she continued. "I think the Universe must have wanted us to slow down and just savor some time at home. And we shall. It just means that there are more adventures to come."

Moore, 35, is an avid hiker who in May shared with her Instagram followers that she'd conquered part of Mount Everest with a group of friends. Calling the climb to the base camp a "bucket list dream," Moore gushed, "There is so much magic in these mountains."

"It’s impossible to be lucky enough to arrive at the foot of these mammoth peaks and not be attuned to the palpable energy of all of those who came before and lost their lives in these mountains," she wrote.
