Reese Witherspoon is sharing an update on her father's condition after he was hospitalized following a reported fall.

The Oscar-winning actress addressed reports about her father, John Witherspoon, in a statement shared to her Instagram Stories on Friday, Aug. 7.

"Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall," Witherspoon wrote. "I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses."

Witherspoon also thanked those who had contacted the family following the news.

"Thank you to everyone who reached out," she wrote. "It means the world to our family."

John Witherspoon, 84, is a retired otolaryngologist and previously served in the U.S. Army. During the Vietnam War era, the Witherspoon family lived for four years in Wiesbaden, Germany, where John was stationed as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve while fulfilling his military obligation, according to a 2002 Vanity Fair article.

Page Six reported Friday that John Witherspoon was hospitalized after he was found near the pool at his condominium building in Nashville.

Citing an unnamed source, the outlet reported that another resident spotted him lying face-down on the pool deck and alerted building staff.

Reese Witherspoon did not share additional details about her father's fall or his treatment in her statement.

Representatives for the actress did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.
