A granddaughter is going viral for honoring her grandparents in a big way.

Liz Coin shared a recent Instagram video revealing that her grandparents Dorothy and James Spencer are celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary, and James Spencer is celebrating turning 99.

"I don't know how to tell the news about this, but my grandparents have been married for 80 years today," Colin said in her video, posted Aug. 3. "It's gotta be a record or something. Eighty years of marriage? Most people don't even live that long, but I don't know how to tell the news, so I thought I would just do this and just share some good news."

In her video, Coin explained that her grandparents married in 1946, on her grandfather's 19th birthday.

She also shared photos of them and told "Good Morning America" later that her grandparents first met in a high school geometry class in upstate New York.

According to Coin, James Spencer went on to become a commander in the Navy and a dean and provost at Cornell University. Dorothy Spencer received a master's degree in education and became a teacher. The couple have three kids, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Coin said her grandparents still love to do workout classes together, watch Hallmark, go on walks and eat at their local ice cream parlor.

When asked about the secret to their long marriage, Coin said her grandmother's advice is to "choose the right person" and "be patient."
