A shooting in Ohio has left three people dead, including a police sergeant and a teenage girl, authorities said.
At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, officers rushed to a home in Rittman following a 911 call reporting a break-in and shots fired, according to a joint statement from the Wayne County and Medina County sheriff's offices. Rittman is about 45 miles south of Cleveland.
The officers "came under immediate gunfire" when they arrived, authorities said on Monday.
Rittman Police Sgt. Scott Ries, a 10-year veteran of the police department, was killed, authorities said.
Two other victims -- Christine McWilliams, 44, and McKinley McWilliams, 13 -- were also pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The suspect -- identified on Monday as 39-year-old Brandon Fazekas -- also died, authorities said.
Four officers from the Medina County Sheriff's Office were shot and wounded, authorities said. Two were treated at a local hospital and have since been released, while two were treated at the scene, officials said.
A K-9 from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was also shot and is in serious condition, the officials said.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
