Kate, the Princess of Wales, showcased a look in Scotland his week that is inspiring our fall fashion wardrobes.

On Thursday, while on a royal visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland, Kate donned a chic chocolate brown trench coat, layered over a green turtleneck sweater and paired with a green tweed newsboy cap.

If you needed a reason to bring back your skinny jeans, consider this: Kate wore brown skinny pants tucked into brown boots with a chunky sole.

The look married form and function, pairing style with practicality for walking through fields and playing shinty, a traditional Scottish sport.

In fall, chocolate brown often trends in fashion as shoppers search for new pieces to add to their wardrobes.

Trench coats and jackets are also among our favorite transitional pieces for this time of year, whether you're layering them with a turtleneck sweater like Kate or paring it back to a T-shirt for warmer weather.
