American Music Awards 2021: Complete list of nominations
Nominations for the 2021 American Music Awards were announced Thursday morning, and Olivia Rodrigo, whose debut album "Sour" dropped earlier this year, earned the most nods of any other artist, with seven. Among her nominations was a spot on the coveted artist of the year category, alongside Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake, and The Weeknd. Swift currently holds the record for the most career AMA wins at 32.
Right behind Rodrigo was The Weeknd, who picked up six nominations, and Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and Giveon, who earned five apiece.
Country singer Morgan Wallen, who was filmed using a racial slur in February and later apologized, was nominated for two awards, but will not be involved with the show, according to MRC Live & Alternative, the production company behind the awards show.
"Morgan Wallen is a nominee this year based on charting. As his conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity," the statement reads, in part. "We plan to evaluate his progress in doing meaningful work as an ally to the Black community and will consider his participation in future shows."
New categories this year are favorite trending song, favorite gospel artist, and favorite Latin duo or group.
The 2021 American Music Awards will take place Sunday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. ET. It will broadcast live on ABC.
