— -- In her new movie, "Trainwreck," Amy Schumer plays a writer named, appropriately, Amy, who's struggling in her personal life.

Schumer told ABC News that the part is "pretty autobiographical."

"Unfortunately, I don't have as much sex as her or drink as much," she joked. "Who has the time? How do you go to work?"

Schumer, 34, who also has an Emmy-nominated Comedy Central series, "Inside Amy Schumer," told Peter Travers that her life wasn't always as glamorous as it is now. In writing her "Trainwreck" role, she thought back to her sophomore year of college -- a painful time for her.

"I'd lost all my self esteem and the other girl sin school were just way prettier than me and the boys were more interested in that," she recalled. "I could still tap into all those feelings."

However, she added that during the time that she was writing the script -- two years ago -- also influenced parts of the movie.

"I was falling in love ... and I was having trouble feeling like I deserved that love," she said. "It's very personal."
