— -- On last week's episode of "The Bachelor," Ben Higgins said "I love you" to the two remaining women.

Now engaged to either JoJo Fletcher or Lauren Bushnell, Higgins said that he's even more smitten than he was when the show was being taped.

Still, in an interview with ABC News, he admitted that "it's not easy" for his fiancée to know how strong his feelings were for her competitor.

"She's been put through hell," he said. "I owe her a lot of dates and a lot of lovin'."

Higgins, 27, explained that while he didn't plan to be as open with his feelings as he was, he did so because it felt natural. And though it made things difficult for awhile, ultimately, he said, things worked out for the best.

"I'm happy to say that it took me to a place now that I could not be happier. I could not be more excited," he said.

Tonight, Higgins will face all the women he sent home on a special episode of "The Bachelor: The Women Tell All," at 8 p.m. on ABC.
