— -- Former "Bachelor" star Chris Soules has been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a death, ABC News has confirmed.

According to paperwork filed by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office in Iowa, Soules was taken into custody after he was involved in a fatal auto accident on Monday.

He has also been accused of not immediately stopping his vehicle at the scene and failing to return and remain at the scene of the crash, according to a police report.

Soules is currently free on a $10,000 bond.

"Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening in a rural part of Iowa near his home," his publicist told ABC News in a statement. "He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away. His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher's family.”

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office said that Soules' Chevrolet Silverado struck Mosher's John Deere tractor, causing it to go into a ditch.

Mosher was then taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead; Soules was uninjured. The sheriff's office also said that because the investigation is ongoing, further charges may be pending.

Soules, 35, made his reality TV debut on "The Bachelorette" in 2014 and starred the next year in "The Bachelor," both of which are ABC shows.

After that, he appeared on "Dancing With the Stars."
