Bad Bunny previews new details of Super Bowl halftime show
Bad Bunny is sharing more details about his plans for the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, days before he takes one of entertainment's biggest stages.
On the heels of his triple Grammy win last weekend, the artist said the one word that comes to mind in this moment, ahead of his Feb. 8 performance, is "grateful."
"I'm just trying to enjoy it," he said in a press conference Thursday. "I know I'm gonna have fun. All the crew, all the people, they're going to have fun that day."
He added, "That's what I'm trying to focus [on], just enjoy the moment, enjoy what is happening, what I'm doing, and trying not to [feel] pressure."
Bad Bunny was tight-lipped when asked to reveal details about the show, however, when asked if he had any special guests joining him onstage, he said with a smile, "You know that's something that I not gonna tell you. I don't know why you asked that."
Super Bowl LX isn't the first time Bad Bunny will be hitting an NFL stage.
He previously made a guest appearance during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in 2020. While he said Thursday that he didn't think he'd ever return as a headliner, Bad Bunny said many in his circle helped manifest the gig for him.
He added, "I was never looking for this. My biggest pleasure is to create, have fun doing it and connect with the people. When I drop a song ... and people connect with me, that's the best feeling. And that's what I'm always looking [for] every time I'm at the studio working. That's why I always work with friends, because to me, it's a very intimate space."
Reflecting on his recent Grammy wins, which include album of the year for "DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS," Bad Bunny said the project taught him "a lot."
"I think it's one of the most ... special project[s] I've done, because it brought me to here," he said. "I wasn't looking for the album of the year at the Grammys, also at the Latin Grammys. I also wasn't looking to perform at [the] Super Bowl halftime show, and I just was looking [to] connect with my roots, connect with my people more than ever, connect with myself, with my history, with my culture."
In terms of how he is preparing for his Super Bowl performance, Bad Bunny said he's trying to eat healthy -- also eating smash-burgers.
Bad Bunny previously teased his halftime performance with a trailer for the show show released in January, featuring the singer dancing to his hit song, "BAILE INoLVIDABLE."
Bad Bunny's most recent performances, from which he could draw inspiration for this year's halftime show, include at his sold-out "No Me Quiero Ir De Aqui" Puerto Rico residency last year.
While many fans can't wait to see Bad Bunny perform on Sunday, some conservatives have criticized the halftime show choice, targeting the Puerto Rican native's songs, which are sung mainly in Spanish, his artistic choices and his vocal support of immigrants in the United States.
Following Bad Bunny's Super Bowl headliner announcement, conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA announced a counterprogram halftime show, dubbed "The All-American Halftime Show," featuring Kid Rock.
Super Bowl LX, a matchup between the Seattle Seahawks versus the New England Patriots, will be held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, Feb. 8.
