— -- Ben Affleck says there is some pressure to living up to fans’ expectations when it comes to his latest role as Batman in the much-anticipated “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

“I really care about it and I want it to do well,” Affleck told “Good Morning America”’s Jesse Palmer. “I got to work with some really talented people and I’m really proud of what we were able to do.”

Affleck stars in the film alongside Henry Cavill, who portrays Superman.

The pair joked about getting in shape for their superhero roles, a process that began one year before they started filming.

“I saw the first movie he was in and I was like, ‘Wow, I don’t know if I’m going to be in quite that good of shape,” Affleck joked of Cavill. “He has definitely set a high bar but he also has to be in that high bar because he is you know, an alien.”

“I figured I had a lower bar to reach because I'm just a man after all, but I ended up putting on about 20 pounds of muscle, which is really hard to do in my advanced age,” the 43-year-old Affleck continued.

Cavill joked that he got through the actual filming of the movie by holding a certain pose while wearing his Superman suit.

“Sort of screaming on the inside and smiling on the out,” Cavill said of the pose.

Affleck admitted he looked on in envy at what he saw as Cavill’s lighter superhero armor.

“I had like the plastic regular suit and then the metal suit on top of it and I was fighting Henry and I would just see Henry like having a coffee with his just really nice comfortable Superman suit,” Affleck said.

“Nice armor,” Cavill joked he would say to Affleck.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," also starring Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg, opens nationwide March 25.
