— -- Bindi Irwin is opening up about her relationship with boyfriend Chandler Powell, and it looks as if love is in the air.

In an interview with the Australian Women’s Weekly magazine, Irwin, who won season 21 of "Dancing With the Stars" last month, spilled details about her relationship with the 19-year-old professional wake-boarder, and revealed that her mom approves of the cute couple.

“My mum has always described him as an old-fashioned gentleman,” Irwin said. “He’s always there to keep me going. He’s a sweet, sweet person."

Irwin, 17, has briefly commented about her relationship with Powell in the past, revealing she was seeing "someone special" in July, and making their first red carpet appearance together in September.

Irwin, daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, also explained she fell in love with Powell because of his acceptance and understanding of her life in the spotlight.

“He’s the first person I’ve met who understands my life: the travel and the work and that real dedication and determination," Irwin said. "I think that’s why I love him so much, because he gets my world.”
