'Law & Order' actor Christopher Meloni to star in NFL series on Hulu

Christopher Meloni is set to star in an upcoming Hulu series from "Paradise" and "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman, set in the world of the NFL.

The actor will portray the head coach of a team in the untitled series, Hulu confirmed to "Good Morning America" on Thursday.

While the plot and character details remain mostly under wraps, the series, which was picked up by Hulu in October 2024, is said to feature the "inside the world of the NFL with a generational family component," according to the streaming platform.

Fogelman shared the casting news on his Instagram page Wednesday with the caption, "Welcome to the team @chris_meloni."

He added, "Got our coach!"

As for his connection to football, Meloni, who is best known for his role as Elliot Stabler on "Law & Order: SVU" and "Law & Order: Organized Crime," was the quarterback of his high school team at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Virginia. His team was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame after going undefeated in 1978, according to Washingtonian.

Beyond "Law & Order," Meloni is also known for his roles in "Wet Hot American Summer," Syfy's "Happy!" "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle," "Oz," and the upcoming Netflix film "Little Brother." He is represented by Gersh.

Fogelman, who is also developing the second season of "Paradise" for Hulu, is writing the NFL drama and will serve as executive producer alongside Jess Rosenthal, as well as Skydance Sports' David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed.
