— -- This summer, the King of Rock 'n' Roll will be making a return appearance on a postage stamp.

The U.S. Postal Service announced today that Elvis Presley will be on a Forever stamp as part of its Music Icons series. The artwork for the new stamp will be released at a later time.

“Elvis is a natural addition to our Music Icon Series," Postmaster General Megan Brennan said in a statement. "His life and talents are an incredible story. Spanning from his humble beginnings in a Tupelo, Mississippi, two-room house to becoming one of the most legendary performance artists of the 20th Century, Elvis Presley’s works continues to resonate with millions the world over.”

The stamp will be released Aug. 12, with a first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony to be held at Memphis' Graceland as part of the Elvis Week festivities.

Presley, who died in 1977, first appeared on a U.S. postage stamp in 1993. He will join fellow musicians Johnny Cash, Lydia Mendoza, Ray Charles, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix in the Postal Service's Music Icons series that began in 2013.
