— -- As one-third of the hit-making country music trio Lady Antebellum, Hillary Scott sings songs about love, loss and healing, and she's been living through her own personal heartbreak.

The group's lead singer cried as she shared sad news for the first time in an interview that aired today on "Good Morning America."

"Last fall, I went through a miscarriage," she said.

Scott, 30, said she doesn't think miscarriages are talked about very often.

"I also feel like there's this pressure that you're just supposed to be able to snap your fingers and continue to walk through life like it never happened," she added.

Scott -- who has a 2-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye, with husband Chris Tyrell -- is channeling her pain through music. She recorded an album of hymns with her family. Titled "Love Remains," the album will be released on July 29.

Scott said she wrote the first single, "Thy Will," in the midst of "experiencing everything that comes with a miscarriage. So it was my most raw place that I could've ever been when this song truly poured out of me."

Now approaching life with a new perspective, Scott said she's relishing special moments with her daughter.

"I'm a different mom to her now ... I hug her a lot tighter," Scott said.

For now, Scott is glad to be making music again. She's back on the road, touring this summer with Lady Antebellum.

"After going through everything that I've gone through in the past year, but also just the process of making this record, I know I'm coming back into the mindset of Lady Antebellum ... I'm very grateful," she said.
