Jimmie Allen issued a public apology to his estranged wife Alexis Gale on Thursday, one week after his former manager sued him for alleged assault and sexual abuse.

"I want to publicly apologize to my wife Alexis for humiliating her with my affair," the 37-year-old singer began in the statement, posted to his Instagram on Thursday. "I'm embarrassed that my choices have brought shame on her. That's something that she did not deserve at all."

"I also want to apologize to my children for being a poor example of a man and a father," Allen continued. "I'm working on becoming a better person that my kids can be proud of. My goal is to be better than the generation before me."

The "Be Alright" singer added, "The business takes so much from you. It's full of temptations that can cripple you and ruin everything you've built. I'm ashamed that I wasn't strong enough to withstand them. I will no longer be a victim of my weaknesses."

"I challenge everyone to seek help when they need it. Do not be afraid of your weakness, surround yourself with people that WILL help you," he concluded. "Be Blessed."

In the lawsuit, filed anonymously under the name "Jane Doe" in Tennessee on May 11, Allen's former manager alleged that he raped her, sexually abused her and sexually harassed her multiple times. The lawsuit also claims his management team at Wide Open Music was made aware of Allen's behavior and allegedly failed to protect her.

The suit claims when the woman disclosed the allegations to Wide Open Music, the company allegedly fired her in retaliation.

The woman is suing Allen, Wide Open Music and Wide Open Music founder Ash Bowers.

In a statement, attorneys for Allen told ABC News that the singer, who claims the two had a consensual sexual relationship, denies all claims of assault or abuse, calling them "false" and "extremely damaging," adding that Allen plans to "mount a vigorous defense" to the allegations.

ABC News reached out to Wide Open Music and Bowers for comment on the lawsuit but did not immediately receive a response. In a statement to Billboard on May 11, Bowers denied the allegations against him, claiming that when Wide Open Music learned of the allegations against Allen on Oct. 4, 2022, it "immediately ended our professional relationship" with him.

"Any assertion that she ever raised the existence of a sexual or physical relationship between Mr. Allen and her (or that Wide Open Music or I was aware of any such relationship) before October 4, 2022 is patently and objectively false," Bowers claimed.

He also denied claims that Wide Open Music retaliated against the woman, stating, "Once WOM no longer managed Mr. Allen, that role was gone and, furthermore, WOM has transitioned out of artist management completely to development and publishing. Accordingly, any claim that our professional relationship with her ended due to retaliation is also false."

Allen and Gale announced their separation in April, while simultaneously revealing they are expecting their third child together. The pair already share two daughters. Allen also has a son from a previous relationship.

As of our publishing this story, Gale has not commented publicly on the allegations against Allen.

ABC News has reached out to Gale for comment.
