'The Jungle Book' Tops Box Office for Third Straight Weekend

— -- A missing kitten was no match for the animals in "The Jungle Book."

The adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling stories was number one at the box office for the third straight weekend, earning an estimated $42.4 million. "The Jungle Book" has now made $252 million domestically and nearly $685 million worldwide.

The Disney movie's reign should come to an end once "Captain America: Civil War" is released in North America Friday. The Marvel flick made $200 million overseas this weekend.

Both "The Jungle Book" and "Captain America" are properties of Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

The new comedy "Keanu," starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, opened in third place with $9.4 million. The two comedians play cousins who infiltrate a gang in hopes of retrieving a kidnapped kitten.

The Garry Marshall film "Mother's Day," with Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts, debuted in fourth place, collecting $8.3 million.

The video game-turned-movie "Ratchet & Clank" finished the weekend in seventh place, with a $4.8 million debut.

Here are the top 10 movies from Friday through Sunday, with estimated ticket sales, according to Rentrak:

1. "The Jungle Book," $42.4 million
2. "The Huntsman: Winter's War," $9.4 million
3. "Keanu," $9.4 million
4. "Mother's Day," $8.3 million

6. "Zootopia," $5 million
7. "Ratchet & Clank," $4.8 million
8. "The Boss," $4.2 million
9. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," $3.8 million
10. "Criminal," $1.3 million
