Kate Middleton surprises fans at Wimbledon
Kate, the Princess of Wales, surprised fans at Wimbledon on Thursday.
The 44-year-old was photographed greeting tennis fans on line at the tennis tournament. She sported a blue suit and an updo for the event.
The princess is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the championships.
Kate watched a match and met with children who are members of a creative photography program and were visiting Wimbledon to take photos of the tournament.
The princess’s Wimbledon attendance comes less than a week after she climbed the three highest mountains in the U.K. -- Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales -- over the course of 24 hours.
Kate said she wanted to do the 23-mile feat, part of the National Three Peaks Challenge, as a personal challenge but also to raise awareness and money for those who work with cancer patients.
“I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavor but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” Kate wrote, in part, after completing the challenge.
During her climb of Ben Nevis, she also greeted an 11-year-old boy in a wheelchair named Ted, who was attempting the Three Peaks Challenge, and later made a donation in support of him.
Kate went public in 2024 about being diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer and announced last year that she was in remission after undergoing treatment.
