Kathy Griffin's late mother, Maggie, would have become a centenarian on Wednesday. The stand-up comic marked her mother's 100th birthday in a bittersweet tribute.

"It was just in March that our beautiful, hilarious and spontaneous Maggie Griffin passed away," the 59-year-old wrote on Instagram post, which included a photo of her mother joyfully smiling and waving. "She would have been 100 years old today. Happy Birthday, Mom."

On March 17, Kathy broke the devastating news that her mother passed away.

"I am gutted. She was my best friend. She was my family. You knew her. She appreciated you guys so much. I'm shaking. I won't ever be prepared," she wrote at the time. "I'm so grateful you got to be part of her life. You loved her. I know it. She knew it. She's irreplaceable."
