Man claims rapper Travis Scott punched him at nightclub: Police
Travis Scott is wanted for questioning by police after a man claimed the rapper punched him in the face at a Manhattan nightclub early Wednesday.
A sound engineer who works at Club Nebula in Midtown told the authorities that he was in a verbal dispute with Scott that escalated into a physical altercation around 2 a.m., police said.
The 52-year-old victim alleged that the 31-year-old Scott punched him in the face and did $12,000 worth of damage to an audio speaker and a video screen, police said.
Scott and his representatives are working with the NYPD to try and resolve the matter, according to a source close to the rapper, whose lawyer described what went down at Club Nebula as a misunderstanding.
Mitchell Schuster, Scott's lawyer, said in a statement, "While this is clearly a misunderstanding being blown out of proportion by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve and set the record straight. We are confident our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing."
The victim didn't suffer visible injuries and refused medical attention, police said.
The suspect fled in a car, police said.
The NYPD is not naming a suspect at this time.
"This is blown completely out of proportion. It was a great night," Ritchie Romero, managing partner of Club Nebula, told ABC News.
Dorian Harrington, the talent booker who booked Don Toliver to host his after-party at Club Nebula and who was on stage with Scott during his surprise DJ set, said, "This is a total misunderstanding, and what I saw on stage doesn't reflect what I read in the news. The music and the night turned out great and everyone left peacefully."
