Mandy Moore celebrated her dad Monday as he took his final flight as an airline pilot.

The "This Is Us" star, 37, shared a post to Instagram in honor of her father, Donald Moore, as he retired from American Airlines after 42 years of flying.

"My dad, Captain Don, is on his last flight as an @americanair captain. It's the end of an era for our family," Moore wrote, sharing photos of the milestone occasion. One photo is of Moore and her father in the cockpit of a plane and him in uniform.

Other photos included her dad as a baby and another of a celebratory cake with a decorative plane and the phrases "The Legend Has Retired" and "We'll Miss You."

"After 42 years at the company, he's reached the mandatory retirement age (65) and he's saying goodbye to a career that he's always claimed felt more like a hobby," Moore went on in the post. "To have spent 2/3 of your life at one job; to have raised 3 children and made a living doing something you're so deeply passionate about is an absolute gift. I hope you're proud, Dad."

Moore concluded by expressing how excited she was for her father's "next chapter" -- which she said will include lots of "unfiltered Grandpa time" for her son, August "Gus" Harrison.

The "Candy" singer and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, welcomed their first child in February. The couple married in November 2018.

"We love to hear our team members' stories!" American Airlines wrote in reply to Moore's post via Instagram. "Congrats to Capt. Moore on his retirement after 42 years on the flight deck!"
