A bright full moon known as the flower moon will rise this May, reaching its peak this week and marking a seasonal shift toward early summer.
Celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas spoke with "Good Morning America" about how to tap into its energy.

When can you see the full flower moon?
The full moon will reach peak illumination in the United States on Friday, May 1, at 1:23 p.m. E.T., according to the U.S. Naval Observatory's Astronomical Applications Department.
Why is it called the flower moon?
The name "flower moon" comes from seasonal changes observed across North America.
According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, which began publishing traditional full moon names in the 1930s, the May full moon is often called the flower moon because it coincides with a time when flowers are in full bloom across much of the continent.
Many Native American tribes named full moons based on natural events and seasonal shifts. In May, the abundance of blooming flowers made "flower moon" a fitting name.
Other names reflected the arrival of spring and new growth. Some northern tribes referred to it as the budding moon or leaf budding moon, while others called it the planting moon, marking a time ideal for sowing crops for the months ahead.
What zodiac sign is the flower moon in May?
Each full moon falls under a specific zodiac sign based on the moon's position in the sky at that time.
Thomas said because the moon's placement shifts slightly each year, the zodiac sign tied to the flower moon can vary, bringing different energetic themes with it.
This year, the flower moon falls in Scorpio -- a water sign known for its intensity, emotional depth and focus on shared resources.
"Striking a balance between what we give and receive will be extremely important, and any imbalances within these themes will be tremendously important to face," Thomas said. "Investments, assets, and large money matters will be rocked by this full moon."
"Also, as Scorpio is the zodiac sign that rules intimacy, sexuality, the shadow self and the occult, these topics will be thrust upon the global stage," he added.

The full moon has long been seen as a powerful time for reflection, release and manifestation across many cultures and spiritual traditions.
Astrologers say this flower moon in Scorpio brings an added layer of emotional depth, making it an ideal moment to set intentions and focus on transformation.
Because Scorpio is a water sign, rituals involving liquids -- such as making moon water, taking a bath, or using essential oils -- may feel especially meaningful.
Anointing yourself or items like crystals can help deepen and focus your intentions, according to Thomas.
"These can all be excellent tools for manifestation," he explained. "Scorpio is also ruled by both Mars and Pluto, planets of fire. This means incorporating candles into a ritual may also be helpful, especially writing down things one seeks to release and then burning it in a safe way to cleanse oneself and figuratively be 'reborn.'"

"If this is the case, another employer could be right around the corner, so search for the perfect one. Other Geminis could find that they are putting the finishing touches on a milestone project for their boss that takes a great deal of final attention."
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

"Of all the zodiac signs, you're likely to feel that this full moon brings an extra dose of sugar and spice!" Thomas explained. "With your passion sector being activated, you may have a significant turning point around romance, true love, hobbies, fertility or creativity. Leo (July 23 - Aug. 22)
Expect to feel all the feels during this full moon, Leo.
"This lunation will rock your domestic life, home and family," Thomas said. "A significant ending may occur near this time, such as moving, renovating or deciding to entirely redecorate. Some Leos may reach a milestone around real estate matters, instead."
Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22)
