Here's What Kanye West Spoke About at the 2016 VMAs
— -- Everyone was talking about Kanye West's four minutes he would have to talk about absolutely anything during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
And the iconic rapper came out to the VMAs stage on Sunday night and had one of his classic speeches, that ranged from talking about his alleged feud with Taylor Swift to poverty and senseless killing in America.
Firts, he introduced himself, "I am Kanye West," which resulted in a roar of applause.
Then, he explained how he was inspired to come up with the concept for his "Famous" video, which featured lookalikes for Swift, Anna Wintour and Donald Trump, and that it represents his world, the celebrity world.
"I put Ray J in there Bro," West said about putting his wife Kim Kardashian's ex, or his likeness, in his video. "This is fame bro."
He then motioned to the crowd and said, "I see you Amber [Rose]," his own ex.
Kardashian West didn't seemed to mind and looked on adoringly at her husband.
"My wife is a G, not a lot of people's wives let them say that," he joked about Rose.
After talking about fame and calling Taylor Swift for his song "Famous," which she has denied he did, he turned the speech to politics.
"Last week it was 22 people murdered in Chicago," he said.
He also shared a short story about meeting a young kid who has lost friends to violence.
"Three of my friends died and I don't know if I'm going to be the next," the kid told West, so he added, "You might feel like what's the point ... life can start to feel worthless."
But then he said, "tonight we are here to have fun."
Before introducing his video for "Fade," he said, "we are undeniably the influence, the thought leaders."
