Nicole Kidman steps out for powerful cause after filing for divorce from Keith Urban
Nicole Kidman stepped out to support a good cause in her first major public appearance since filing for divorce from longtime husband Keith Urban.
The Oscar winner attended amfAR's Dallas auction on Saturday, an event benefiting the nonprofit's efforts to advance AIDS research and help prevent the spread of HIV worldwide.
During the event, Kidman dazzled in a black off-the-shoulder gown as she delivered remarks before presenting "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan with the organization's Award of Inspiration.
"I think what Taylor recognizes, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we're better when we look out for each other," she said in a video obtained by People. "That, of course, is why we're here tonight. What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity, than to help fund bold and innovative research?"
Kidman filed for divorce from the singer on Tuesday after 19 years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by ABC News.
Her filing came one day after "Good Morning America" reported that she and Urban had separated.
According to the divorce documents filed in Nashville, both Kidman and Urban cited "marital difficulties" and "irreconcilable differences."
A parenting plan order, also filed Tuesday, shows that the pair agreed on a set custody schedule for their two daughters -- Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban, 17, and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban, 14.
Neither is seeking child support from the other, and the terms state that Kidman will be the primary residential parent.
Kidman also shares two older children, Bella and Connor, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Kidman and Urban married in 2006 in Sydney, Australia, after meeting the year before at the G'Day USA Gala in Los Angeles.
