— -- Prince William and his wife, Kate, continue their trip to the United States today with a visit to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum and later attending a fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the University of St. Andrews, their alma mater and where they met.

The royal couple is visiting New York City and Washington, D.C., for the first time.

They met political royalty - Hillary and Chelsea Clinton - at a conservation reception Monday to combat illegal wildlife trade and Brooklyn royalty – Jay-Z and Beyoncé - while watching Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James against the Nets.

"I'm off to shoot some hoops now or whatever it is the Americans call it," Prince William said before heading to the Barclays Center.

The famously media shy William and Kate later seemed a little uncomfortable when they appeared on the Jumbotron but took it in stride.

After the game, they met James, who gave them cupcakes from his hometown of Akron, Ohio, and a jersey for their son, Prince George, who missed the trip, and another that had "Cambridge" on the back.

Earlier in the day, Prince William went to the White House, where he met President Obama and recounted the day his son was born.

"When George was born, I forgot to work out whether it was a boy or a girl," he told the president. "The excitement of the event and everything else was just chaos."
