Priyanka Chopra Jonas is opening up more than ever before in her upcoming memoir, "Unfinished," which she dedicated to her late father.

During an appearance on "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, the actress discussed her close bond with her dad, who she described as her "greatest champion."

"From winning a small medal in maybe a school race to, you know, an award, he was always the loudest in the room," she shared. "I think the one thing that my dad definitely taught me was to treat life with a sense of adventure."

"He was a military guy -- so moving every two years -- and not to be afraid of the new things that are thrown at you," she continued on what her father taught her. "If you have to sink and swim, learn how to swim."

In Chopra Jonas' dedication in the memoir, she wrote, "Dear Papa, much like the title of this book, your story was unfinished. With that in mind, I dedicate the rest of mine to you. I miss you, dad."

The actress' parents strong marriage and how it affected her is one of the many topics she touches on in "Unfinished."

Chopra Jonas also reveals more about her relationship with her husband, singer Nick Jonas. She writes that "not much surprises" her as much as he did.

"He's just a very self-assured man and, you know, that is surprising with guys," she shared with a laugh.

While appearing on "GMA," the actress also shared some details on her upcoming film with Mindy Kaling and what made her want to collaborate on the project.

"When I joined Hollywood about five, six years ago I didn't really see a lot of leading parts for people who look like me, specifically girls," she shared. "So I called Mindy and I said, 'Mindy, want to do a movie together?' She's a writer that I admire tremendously and now we're making the movie with Universal Pictures."

She described the film as "a buddy comedy about two friends" that she said, "ends with a big fat Indian wedding, which is always fun to end something on."
