— -- On the season nine premiere of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," viewers watched the return of Porsha Williams.

Many of her co-stars were unsure if the radio personality should be allowed to return to the show because of her physical altercations with other cast members.

But, her friend Phaedra Parks said the reality star is a changed woman who has "really come into her own."

On the premiere episode, which aired Sunday on Bravo, Williams, 35, showed up uninvited to co-star Kenya Moore's housewarming.

The former Miss USA explained during the episode why Williams wasn't invited. "I just want to be safe in my own home," she told the other women, inside Moore Manor.

The two women have an intense history. They had a physical scuffle during the season seven reunion show and Williams was eventually charged with simple battery. Later, Moore dropped the charges.

Williams also got into a fight with co-star Cynthia Bailey on season eight.

On the season nine premiere, Williams sought help and met with an anger management counselor to help her find non-violent solutions to her problems with the ladies.

Parks, who invited Williams to Moore's housewarming as her "plus one," said she's a changed woman and should be welcomed back to the show with open arms.

Before the season premiered, Parks told ABC News that she's "so proud" of Williams.

"I’ve seen her just grow as a woman," she said.

Parks talked about the history of their friendship and how much has changed.

"I remember when I first met Porsha, she was this very unassuming [woman], wanting to be the perfect wife and almost -- I don’t want to say -- intimidated by her spouse to a certain extent," Parks said, referring to Williams' ex-husband, former NFL player Kordell Stewart.

"So to see her now really evolved into this really strong, opinionated businesswoman whose built a career for herself and [has] these ventures out there, I’m proud of her," Parks continued.

"I’ve just watched her really blossom," she said. "She went from a caterpillar to a butterfly, internally. She was always a beautiful girl, outwardly, but internally she has just really come into her own."

But, not all of Williams' co-stars are convinced. On Sunday night's episode of "Watch What Happens Live" when asked by host Andy Cohen if Williams has improved with her anger management issues, Kandi Burruss laughed in disbelief.

The R&B singer added, "I think Porsha does things for the fans. I think she just puts on these images to try and trick, fool the fans."

Burruss, 40, later said she was referring to Williams meeting with an anger management counselor on the show's premiere episode.

"I doubt very seriously she went to meet with that guy any more than with the cameras there," she continued. "I'm just keeping it real."

Williams responded to Burruss' remarks Sunday night, tweeting: "I'm so flattered lol #WWHL Geez." It included a GIF of Mariah Carey with the caption, "Why are you so obsessed with me?"
