Singer Bonnie Tyler in medically induced coma recovering from emergency surgery

Bonnie Tyler has been put in a medically induced coma as she recovers from emergency intestinal surgery.

A rep for the singer confirmed the news to ABC News in a statement on Thursday.

“Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery,” her rep said in a statement.

The statement continued, “We know that you all wish her well and [we] ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”

On Wednesday, a post on the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" singer’s website revealed that she has been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for emergency intestinal surgery. The statement said that the singer has a home there.

They said, “The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.”

"We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery," the statement added.

As of now, Tyler’s website still lists her upcoming tour dates.

Her next show is scheduled for May 22 at the SummerLUST Music Festival in Għaxaq, Malta. She has European and U.K. dates booked through Dec. 17 in Cardiff, Wales.

Tyler is known for a series of hit songs from the 1980s.

"Total Eclipse of the Heart" topped charts in multiple countries, including the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia and was nominated for a Grammy in 1984 for best female pop vocal performance.

She's also known for "Holding Out For a Hero," "It's a Heartache" and more.

Tyler released her 18th studio album, "The Best is Yet to Come," in 2021.
