'Toy Story' coming back to theaters ahead of 30th anniversary
Fans are getting a sneak peek at “Toy Story 5,” the latest installment in the beloved animated franchise coming next year.
Disney shared an exclusive clip from the animated comedy and adventure movie, scheduled for a June 19, 2026 release, at the “Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney” event, held from Aug. 29 to Aug. 31 in Orlando, Florida.
The new clip from “Toy Story 5" shows an army of malfunctioning Buzz Lightyear toys that brings a new round of chaos to the toy box.

The clip features a new toy named Smarty Pants voiced by comedian Conan O’Brien, and a new villain named Lilypad, a tablet in a frog-themed case who goes up against the original group of analog toys.
While fans count down to the new movie’s release, they can re-visit the original “Toy Story” on the big screen, which is returning to theaters Sept. 12 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the fan-favorite film’s premiere in 1995. Tickets for the movie’s re-release will be available starting Sept. 2.
Also at “Destination D23,” Disney revealed its latest original animated movie, “Hexed,” is slated for a November 2026 release.
“Hexed” will tell the story of a teen boy and his “Type-A mom” who find out that his unusual character traits are magical powers that will “turn their lives and a secret world of magic, upside down.”
The “Ice Age” gang is also returning to the silver screen with “Ice Age: Boiling Point” in the works. Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and more are coming back for what Disney described as a “dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure” through the “trecacherous Lost World.”
“Ice Age: Boiling Point” is scheduled for release in February 2027.
And last but not least, Disney revealed actress Yvette Nicole Brown is joining “Zootopia 2,” which opens in theaters on Nov. 26.
Brown will have two cameos as The Bearoness and EMT Otter. Brown is joined by actor Patrick Warburton, who will voice Mayor Winddancer, a “charismatic but clueless stallion," according to Disney.
The Walt Disney Co is the parent company of ABC News.
