Viola Davis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and more react to Emmy nominations
The nominees for the 71st annual Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday morning.
D’Arcy Carden and Ken Jeong announced the nominees from the Wolf Theatre at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center in Los Angeles.
"Game of Thrones" had a very strong day, leading the way with nominations for best drama and lead actress. "Thrones" had 32 nominations overall for its final season.
Right behind "Thrones" was "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" with 20 nominations. Other standouts included "Chernobyl" with 19 nods, "Barry" and "Fosse/Verdon" both earning 17 nods and "When They See Us" with 16.

Viola Davis
The "How to Get Away with Murder" star said she was "very grateful" for her nomination for outstanding lead actress in a drama series.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
"Cheers to all my @veephbo friends and huge thanks to @televisionacad for all these nominations. My cup runneth over and yes, getting my hair colored this week. Don’t worry. #emmys2019 #veep," the 9-time Emmy winner wrote.
Laverne Cox
"Orange Is the New Black" actress Cox said she was "completely in shock" over her nomination for outstanding guest actress in a drama series.
Asante Blackk
The 17-year-old "When They See Us" star wrote, "woke up to find out i’m nominated for an emmy. for my first ever project. at 17 years old. wow. i love y’all. thank you so much."
Gwendoline Christie
The "Game of Thrones" actress shared the message she received informing her of her nomination for supporting actress in a drama series.
"I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!????!?!!?!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she captioned the post.
Patricia Clarkson
The actress was nominated for supporting actress in a limited series or movie for her performance in HBO's "Sharp Objects."
"It’s a privilege to be included in this category with such extraordinary actresses," she said in a statement. "I’m so grateful to HBO and the entire creative team behind Sharp Objects; I celebrate with all of them today."
Dan Levy
"Schitt's Creek" co-creator Dan Levy said "COULDN’T BE PROUDER IF I TRIED!" in an Instagram post.
The show earned four nominations.
Joey King
The actress shared her emotional reaction to receiving a nomination for her performance in the Hulu series "The Act."
"My work on The Act was the most fulfilling and challenging work I’ve gotten to do as an actress thus far," she wrote in the the post.
"To be nominated for an Emmy in a category with such INCREDIBLE nominees by my side, especially Patricia is the most surreal feeling," she wrote, mentioning her co-star Patricia Arquette.
Hugh Grant
"“I’m very touched and grateful to the Academy. Also to Stephen Frears for luring me back to TV. (And to showbiz, frankly.) Also to my wife for enduring the hair-do for four months," the acclaimed actor sent via a statement.
