On Tuesday, audiences were given a glimpse of the new show, which follows a blind French girl named Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) and her father, Daniel LeBlanc (Ruffalo), as they flee German-occupied Paris.

Along the way, they are "relentlessly pursued by a cruel Gestapo officer who seeks to possess the stone for his own selfish means," according to the synopsis.

The story is based on the 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr.

The author took to Instagram to share the teaser and said the series has been years in the making. He also wrote in the caption that filmmakers went on a "worldwide search" to find two actors with visual disabilities to play Marie-Laure, and that filming for the series took place during COVID-19 and a "crushing European heatwave."
