The Weeknd delays album release, cancels Rose Bowl show due to LA fires
The Weeknd is postponing the release of his upcoming album due to the L.A. wildfires.
The singer took to Instagram on Monday and said that he is delaying the release of the album titled "Hurry Up Tomorrow," "out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County."
He said he is also canceling his one-night-only concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 25.
"This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time," he said.
"In light of this, I have also decided to push the release of my album to January 31st," he added.
He continued, "My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild."
The singer, born Abel Tesfaye, signed the post, "With love, Abel."
"Hurry Up Tomorrow" is The Weeknd's sixth studio album. He announced the name of the album in September 2024 and shared the album art cover days later. Ahead of the album's release, the singer has released the songs, "Dancing in the Flames," "Timeless" and "Sāo Paolo (feat. Anitta)."
The Weeknd's announcement comes as several events in Hollywood have been postponed or cancelled amid the ongoing devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles and taken the lives of at least 24 people.
