An Alabama community rallied together to give an 11-year-old an early Halloween for his birthday last month.

Mom Leah Farrow posted on Facebook about her son Soren, who has autism, and how much he loves trick-or-treating, asking if anyone would be open to volunteering to offer Soren the chance to trick-or-treat at their home in the middle of summer.

To her surprise, 83 families answered the call, decorating their houses with "Happy Birthday" signs and prepared sweets and toys, like LEGO sets, for Soren.

"He was so happy. I mean, he was on a mission," Farrow told ABC News' Danny New.

Farrow said Soren ultimately made it to 70 homes in one day, adding that her son, who dressed up as a banana, "wasn't tired" at all.

"We severely underestimated how many bags we needed," Farrow added of Soren's haul.

Farrow said she got the idea to set up the fun activity for Soren after realizing he truly enjoyed putting on a costume and going trick-or-treating around the neighborhood each year.

"He would say, 'OK, time to trick-or-treat,' and he would be repeating that over and over," Farrow said.

The community's touching gesture to give Soren a magical birthday is one Farrow said she and Soren won't soon forget.

"My overwhelming feeling was really just, like, relief, because I know he's safe here," she added.
