One person was killed and six others were injured in a "targeted" shooting at a Spirit Halloween store inside the Solano Town Center in Fairfield, California, police said.

"Based on preliminary information obtained during the investigation, the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect inside the Spirit Halloween store," police said in a statement Saturday.

Fairfield police responded to the shooting at about 8:30 p.m. local time Friday, according to a statement from the police department. Seven people were found with gunshot wounds, one of whom died from their injuries.

The six other victims were taken to local hospitals, with at least three in critical condition, police said.

"Detectives continue to actively investigate this case, reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the individual responsible for this heinous act of violence," police said.

Police have identified Constance Hages, a 31-year-old female, as the victim who died of gunshot wounds. Hages was pregnant at the time of her death, family members told police.

A 16-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and a 32-year-old male remain in critical condition, police said. A 23-year-old male remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Two additional victims, a 19-year-old male and a 43-year-old male, were treated for gunshot wounds and have since been released from the hospital, police said.

"We encourage anyone in the community with information to contact the Fairfield Police Department," Fairfield Chief of Police Dan Marshall said during a press conference Friday night. "I know the mall has cameras, so hopefully we'll get some of that footage."

Police encouraged the public to "remain vigilant, look out for one another, and report any suspicious activity" during Halloween celebrations Saturday evening.

"Our department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim who died from their injuries. We also extend our thoughts to the other victims who were injured during this shooting," police said Saturday.
