— -- A viral video of 100 years worth of costume trends compiled into a three-minute time-lapse is sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.

From spooky paper mache Mickey Mouse masks to Raggedy Ann, each decade shows a little bit of everything -- including a laugh-out-loud surprise for 2015.

"I always like to put a twist at the end," director of the video Avalino Pombo told ABC News. "In 2015 we actually have an identity and a point of view, where in the past decades, we were kind of persuaded by the media to act a certain way."

"At the end of the day, I just want to bring a little humor into it, to get people to smile," he said.

Pombo, who is head of development at Mode Media in San Francisco, California, said he and his team prepped for the video by conducting research on how people dressed up and celebrated Halloween from 1915 to today.

For each costume that was duplicated, clothing and accessories were made by hand or pulled from the actual decade and purchased from a collector, he said.

"They are all fashion-related because clothes are really important to each decade," Pombo said. "It isn't just a mask, or hairstyle or makeup. Most people made their own costumes [back then], so everything was all original and one of a kind."

The video, "100 Years of Halloween Costumes in 3 Minutes," has racked up over 940,000 views since being posted to YouTube on Wednesday.
