Oct. 8, 2013 — -- Details about Apple's next iPad have been adding up over the last few weeks, and now it looks like we can add a launch date to the pile.

Apple is set to hold an event on Oct. 22 to announce the next versions of the iPad, according to technology website All Things D. The website has a long track record of accurately reporting Apple event dates. It correctly reported the iPhone 5s' September launch event before Apple officially sent out invitations to the media.

When reached by ABC News, Apple declined to comment on the report. However, it was close to a year ago, on Oct. 23, 2012, that Apple held an event in San Jose to announce its fourth-generation iPad and the iPad Mini.

The next generation of the iPad is expected to have a similar design to the iPad Mini's, with a thinner shell and screen frame, according to various leaks. Additionally, Apple is expected to release a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution Retina display. Some have also reported that both of the next iPads will have the Apple's newest fingerprint sensor technology, called Touch ID, which is currently found only on the iPhone 5s.

The iPads will run the newest version of Apple's iOS 7, which was released last month.

Apple will also talk about its future Mac products, according to AllThingsD, including the all new Mac Pro, and the next version of the Mac operating system called OS X Mavericks. Apple first showed off the new Mac Pro at its Worldwide Developer's Conference event in June. The desktop PC has been shrunken down and will be manufactured in the U.S.

Apple has been facing mounting pressure from investors and consumers to release products at a faster rate. During Apple's third-quarter earnings call, company CEO Tim Cook said that the company was working on many new "amazing products" that would be introduced "in the fall and across 2014."
