Calling All Men! Party Fashions to Make You Look Hot This Winter

ByANDREW SPRINGER

Dec. 8, 2010 — -- The holiday season is upon us, which means lots of parties to attend.

Women have lots of resources to help them pull together great looks, but what about men?

"Good Morning America" teamed up with Details magazine to showcase four outfits that will keep guys looking stylish and festive this season.

Matthew Marden, the magazine's market director, appeared on the show to discuss the ideas:

Why a suit? Many of the parties men will attend will occur after work, Marden said. The holidays are a great time to really add some festive touches to that suit, so instead of a plain dress shirt, wear a plaid flannel shirt for texture and sartorial edge.

Take the tie off before you go to the party, and you'll still look really polished and put-together.

The look: DKNY suit, $595; DKNY pure plaid button-down shirt, $99; DKNY green tie, $65; Barney's black belt, $69; Allen Edmonds' double monk strap shoes, $295.

Many people cringe when they hear talk of the Christmas sweater, but it's time to re-think one of the most-ridiculed items this season. Marden said top designers, including Gucci and JCrew, were showing sweaters made in the Fair Isle tradition. The sweater is show here paired with straight-leg jeans, and accessorized with a military watch and hiking boots.

The look: Topman Fair Isle sweater, $79; LNA Henley, $72; Timex watch, $35; Levi jeans, $128; Cole Haan hiking boot, $228.

This is a new take on the traditional jacket and pants, and this look is all about layering. Instead of the traditional blue blazer, you can wear a charcoal gray blazer and pair it with a plaid shirt and plaid tie. Don't be afraid to mix patterns, Marden said. Wear a purple shirt for a pop of color. Instead of khakis, pair the blazer with corduroy pants. They fit and feel like your favorite jeans, but look much better for this time of year, he added.

The look: Bloomingdale's blazer, $450; Tommy Hilfiger purple sweater, $88; Tommy Hilfiger check shirt, $68; Tommy Hilfiger wool plaid tie, $47; Tommy Hilfiger cords; $88; Cole Haan dress shoes, 228; Brooks Brothers white pocket square, $25 for a 7- pack.

The look: J. Crew tux, $730; J. Crew tux shirt, $175; J. Crew bow tie, $52; J. Crew cummerbund, $75; Tommy Hilfiger plaid pocket square, $38; Allen Edmonds patent shoes, $325.
