Three people were killed and two others critically injured after a car crashed into a grocery store in the Westwood area of Los Angeles on Thursday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department officials.

The crash is being investigated as accidental, officials said.

It appears the driver hit a bicyclist and then "unintentionally lost control" of her Toyota Prius, which continued before crashing into the market, LAPD Capt. Anthony Espinoza said during a press briefing.

All three people killed -- two men, aged 55 and 30, and a 42-year-old woman -- were inside the grocery store's bakery at the time of the accident, fire officials said.

The driver -- a woman who's about 70 years old -- was speaking with officers following the crash, officials said.

"The incident is unintentional, and it's just an unfortunate accident," LAPD Capt. Anthony Espinoza said during a press briefing.

It appears some victims were trapped under the car, which ended up inside the market, officials said.

Four people were transported to area hospitals, including two 35-year-old men in critical condition, fire officials said. Two men, ages 38 and 37, were transported in fair condition, officials said.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries and declined treatment at the scene, fire officials said. The driver also declined treatment, officials said.
