— -- People who opened their wallets for Black Friday and Cyber Monday may want to keep them open just a bit longer to give back to an organization of their choice today, which is known as #GivingTuesday.

Now in its fourth official year as a movement, #GivingTuesday was started by the 92nd Street Y in New York City and the United Nations Foundation with the intent of harnessing the power of social media and people around the world to encourage them to donate money or time to a group that may be in need of extra help -- or even donate blood or sign up to be an organ donor.
