Grandmother of Missing Virginia Teen: Cops Should 'Give Us More Insight'
— -- The grandmother of a missing 18-year-old college student said it seems like police in Virginia are "doing nothing" to look for her.
Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell has been missing since March 2, according to the Norfolk Police Department.
Hadsell's grandmother Katherine Hadsell said she wishes the police would "give us more insight into what they're actually doing, because to us it seems like they're doing nothing."
Hadsell, a freshman at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia, was home for spring break in the coastal town of Norfolk, Virginia when she disappeared. A new tip this week led police to search a pond in Carrsville, Virginia, about 40 miles away from Norfolk.
As Hadsell's family continues to look for clues, her father, Wesley Hadsell, is in jail after being arrested for allegedly breaking into a home two weeks ago.
His mother said he was following a tip that his daughter had been seen in the home.
"As any father would, if you hear that your daughter may or may not be in a house or being held or some of her belongings or at a location, any father is going to try and find out," Katherine Hadsell said.
Wesley Hadsell is facing charges of breaking and entering, possession of ammunition by a felon and obstructing justice, ABC affiliate WVEC-TV reported.
Hadsell, who was assigned a public defender, was denied bond Friday. He has not yet entered a plea and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 29.
Police were continuing search efforts and haven't ruled out any possibilities, Sam Shenouda of the Norfolk Police Department told ABC News Saturday. Police did not respond to a request for comment today.
Investigators have said they've found no evidence of foul play in Anjelica Hadsell's disappearance, but they are pursuing all leads in the case.
