— -- Kaitlyn Cowell knew Friday would be a special day.

She was set to graduate and become a deputy sheriff for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. What she didn't know was that her boyfriend of three years, Deputy Sheriff Andrew McCorkle, who graduated only a month before, would propose right after the ceremony ended.

Cowell said yes, still in her uniform, surrounded by her fellow graduates, family and friends.

"I graduated today and I got proposed to and I had no idea," Cowell said in a video posted to the department's Facebook page.

Her new fiancé added that their upcoming marriage will be made stronger since the two both work for law enforcement.

"We have a great starting point for our marriage and I believe that a good starting point is having two great careers," McCorkle said.

LASD Commander Mark McCorkle, Deputy Sheriff McCorkle's father, witnessed the special moment.

"[It's] just a beautiful day," he said in the video. "We're truly a family and today is a perfect example of why we're a family. So, I could not be more proud and happy."

With his son's proposal, Commander McCorkle noted that his law enforcement family has grown.

"We've got myself, my wife, my sister-in-law, my two brother-in-laws, my son and now my nephew and soon to be daughter-in-law," he detailed. "Total family affair!"
