— -- Meet Pumpkin, your not-so-typical pet. Pumpkin is a raccoon who thinks she’s just one of the dogs.

The Instagram-famous raccoon was rescued in the Bahamas after falling from a tree and breaking her leg.

Her owner, Laura Young, took her in while the broken leg mended, raising her alongside her two dogs, Toffee and Oreo.

“The little raccoon fell out of a tree in my parents' backyard when she was only 1 month old and suffered a broken leg,” Young explains in her new book, “Pumpkin: The Raccoon Who Thought She Was a Dog,” which hits stores on Oct. 4. “When the mother didn’t return, every effort was made to ensure that the tiny creature would have a fighting chance. With the help of friends and vets, we took her in.”

The rest, as they say, is history.

Young writes that when Pumpkin first met Toffee and Oreo, “they developed an instant bond.”

“The dogs watched over and protected her, and it wasn’t long before Pumpkin began to follow her two new friends everywhere, never wanting to leave their sides,” she adds. “It was a surprise to all of us to see these three misfits form such a beautiful connection.”

Pumpkin is now lapping in the life of luxury in the Bahamas, preferring to stay indoors in the cool air-conditioning, enjoying leftover tea and feasting on sunny-side up eggs.

Pumpkin’s Instagram has nearly 940,000 followers who can now relish in the new book’s hard copy photos of the raccoon’s adventures in attempting to decorate a Christmas tree, taking lavish bubble baths and going for a dip in her kiddy pool in the backyard.
