Build-A-Bear's Heartwarming Hugs weighted plushes return for National Hugging Day
Did you know Jan. 21 is National Hugging Day? Build-A-Bear does and it's celebrating by bringing back the Heartwarming Hugs weight plushes that first gained popularity in early 2025 before going into retirement for nine months.
Sharon Price John, the president and chief executive officer of Build-A-Bear, said in a press release:
"While creating and personalizing any furry friend at Build-A-Bear Workshop is a great way to celebrate Hug Day, we are particularly proud to bring back our Heartwarming Hugs Bear to help turn the power of a simple hug into something even more special."
Two styles of the weighted plush are available: A classic brown teddy bear is perfect for the toy traditionalist and an icy purple sloth that offers a fresh, snuggle-worthy smile that will have you reaching for it time and time again.
Both plushes come with a three-pound, removable heart that can be warmed in the microwave to make your cuddle session even more comforting, and they make amazing gifts for anyone over the age of 3. (Don't forget: Valentine's Day is less than a month away.)
