Pot-Friendly Vacation Rentals Ramp Up in Colorado
April 28, 2014— -- Colorado tourists who fail to snag a room at one of the handful of pot-friendly hotels available to travelers now have another option for pro-cannabis accommodations.
AirTHC is a new listings site for short-term rental properties where it's OK to puff. While the site won't officially launch until May, it is currently accepting listings from property owners and founders say initial interest is high.

While purchasing marijuana from dispensaries has been legal in the state since the beginning of the year, smoking in public is not and can carry a fine of up to $150 and up to 15 days in jail. This presents a unique challenge for travelers interested in consuming, one that airTHC is hoping to solve.
"AirTHC connects people looking for a place to stay—and smoke—with those willing to offer those accommodations in beautiful Colorado," entreats the company's website, which also shares information on local dispensaries, restaurants and skiing destinations.
But the site isn't strictly in the business of hospitality. There is a larger mission to gain acceptance for recreational cannabis consumption nationwide.

"AirTHC is also about furthering the movement to have marijuana decriminalized nationally and promoting legal, responsible use," reads the site. Representatives of the company could not be reached for comment.
Like its predecessor Airbnb, which has no affiliation with the Colorado company, there is no charge to property owners for listing a space on airTHC and agreements with travelers are at the sole discretion of the renter.
