\"The premise of this show, it’s about the characters behind the characters. It’s inside the lives of people that lived in those shoes for those 10 years, and it’s about them coming back together,\" Garth told Entertainment Weekly.

\"We wanted to do something that would cause noise and be groundbreaking just like our original show was back in the ‘90s. And that’s when together we came up with this version,\" Spelling added.

The two actresses also revealed their late former cast member, Luke Perry, who died from a stroke in March 2019, was involved with the development of the show early on and \"was into it.\"
