Williams, told viewers in 2018 that she was diagnosed with Graves' disease and as a result, needed to take three weeks off of work. Graves' disease is an immune system disorder that results in hyperthyroidism, according to the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms differ from person to person, but can include pressure or pain in the eyes, puffy or retracted eyelids and light sensitivity.

In 2019, the talk show host suffered another health crisis -- she was diagnosed with lymphedema, a condition in which a build-up of fluid occurs in the limbs because the lymph system is damaged or blocked, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a division of the National Institutes of Health.

\"I've got it under control and if [the swelling in] my feet and lower things never go all the way down, at least I have this machine,\" she said, likely referring to a compression device. \"I sit for 45 minutes a day. And believe me, it's the best party entertainer ever. Everybody who comes over wants to do this.\"
