Boyce, who was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 17, had been receiving treatment for the condition at the time of his death, and had not had a seizure in more than a year, his parents told \"Good Morning America\" last August. According to the CDC, studies show that each year there are 1.6 cases of SUDEP for every 1,000 people who have epilepsy. In recent essay for \"GMA,\" Libby Boyce wrote that epilepsy is \"the most common disease that we know the least about.\"
\"These past 10 months have been life-changing for me in a way that is beyond words,\" she added. \"You can't compare it to anything because it is a trauma that is dissimilar to anything in the world. It has created a gaping hole that is raw and gut-wrenching.\"
On Monday, several of Boyce's co-stars shared on social media that they're still grieving the loss as well. Dove Cameron, who starred alongside Boyce in the \"Descendants\" franchise, wrote on Instagram, \"Something broke the day you left, something seemingly so impossible, so unjust, so unnatural.\"
\"The universe cannot repair the gap in her weaving,\" she added. \"You were huge. I will love you forever, just like this.\"
Added their co-star Sofia Carson, \"It's been 365 days of missing you. And every day, we miss you a little more. Not having you, hurts too much. But somehow, you still manage to light up our whole entire world. Our Cam. Our forever boy. Our sunshine wearing shoes. I miss you. So much. I love you. And I will love you. Forever.\"
Skai Jackson, who appeared with Boyce in \"Jessie,\" shared a video and photo of her friend to Twitter and wrote, \"I think about you always.\"
\"Time goes by too fast,\" she added. \"Everyone misses you and loves you! I hope you know and see that.\"
